Online special deals website dealzipo.com has launched in Tanzania, in a bid to support local merchants and provide discounts on fun experiences for consumers, while encouraging the e-commerce ecosystem in the country.
Dealzipo.com features a range of daily deals on things to do, see, eat and buy in the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam, while also offering holiday packages in other major cities across the country.
Speaking to HumanIPO, dealzipo founder Seyi John Olusakin said the e-commerce platform is intended to create a “win-win” situation, allowing merchants to attract new customers while saving consumers money and offering enjoyable activities in their city.
Outside of Dar es Salaam, Olusakin says it is the company’s “duty” to promote e-commerce and deals websites in smaller cities.
“We have the duty of educating people about e-commerce and how deals works,” Olusakin said. “E-commerce is a viable model especially now that internet usage is on the increase Tanzania and East Africa.
“The major challenge is less e-commerce facilities and the lack of e-commerce awareness.”
One element in encouraging the uptake of e-commerce is providing a suitable payment solution for online purchases, which dealzipo does by offering the option of mobile payments.
“We encourage mobile payment like M-Pesa with which dealzipo credit can be bought and used to make payment for products and services,” Olusakin said.
