Telkom targets SMEs with business makeover competitions

South African telecoms operator Telkom is offering business upgrades worth R750,000 (US$84,000) as prizes to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector as part of a competition aimed at SME expansion.

The competition is seeking to help the nation create five million jobs by 2020.

“This competition was designed with the objective of reaching out to them (SMEs) and when it came to selecting a prize, a makeover from a business coach was the obvious choice. The five winners will be able to propel their businesses forward in leaps and bounds,” Thami Magazi, Managing Executive at Telkom, said.

“Telkom Business is paying closer attention to the ever-growing SME market. We even have a website specifically designed for this sector in mind. It showcases a range of compelling telecommunication products and services that are specifically designed to meet business needs.”

TBiz and BizTalk subscribers will automatically be entered. Both new and existing clients will be taken into account for five rewards valued at R150,000 (US$16,810) until February 15.

Selected winners will receive business coaching, ICT equipment and a variety of software and office gear, such as furniture.
