WebAfrica changes network to boost cost efficiency

South African Internet services provider (ISP) Web Africa is moving its clients from its own network to that of Internet Solutions to improve cost efficiency.

ADSL traffic is in the process of being shifted, with the remaining domains moved from next week.

CEO Tim Wyatt-Gunning told Engineering News Online he expected the whole process to be completed by February 27.

The network transfer is part of a deal signed between WebAfrica and Internet Solutions, which will see Internet Solutions maintain and run networks on behalf of the ISP.

HumanIPO reported earlier this week that WebAfrica had become the third ISP in South Africa to join the price war started by Telkom, reducing hime uncapped ADSL prices by 32 percent.

Telkom’s new lower uncapped prices were made available from last Friday, prompting rivals to lower their own prices.
