CWG to launch unique tech education in Nigeria

Integrated ICT solutions provider Computer Warehouse Group (CWG) will soon launch a “unique entrepreneurship education in technology” in Nigeria in partnership with Startup Weekend, TechStars and Startup America.

The decision to launch the program is inspired by the “Lean Launch Pad” hosted at the New York-based Columbia Business School.

Lean Launch Pad combines content from leading customer development experts worldwide with local mentors and leaders in an intensive flipped-classroom style course, which aims to create teams of entrepreneurs geared towards growing a customer-driven startup.

“The course provides a comprehensive step-by-step guide to getting startups right. It walks entrepreneurs through the customer development process that gets them out of the building to develop winning technology products that customers will buy,” CWG’s director Austin Okere said.

Nigeria will be among the inaugural 15 countries all over the world the programme will be offered. The programme’s goal is to expand to over 100 cities across the world this year alone.

Beneficiaries of the programme will be taught through hands-on learning methodology on what to expect when starting a technology company.

This is not the first time that CWG is making it into the news headlines. In 2012, it was named the conglomerate of the year, having grown into a US$130 million revenue company with over 650 staff across Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Uganda.

Okere was named “ICT Man of the Decade” by ICT Watch Africa Digital Network in 2012 and “Technology Africa Personality of the Year 2012″ by the organisers of the Titans of Tech Award.
