Jubilee Coalition launches campaign mobile application

Kenyan political outfit Jubilee Coalition has today launched a phone-based application dubbed UhuRuto2013 Mobile Application aimed at giving users access to latest information on its activities.

The Android-compatible mobile app will allow users, both at home and overseas, to access campaign speeches made by the Jubilee Coalition, TV interviews, debates of all nominated candidates and campaign music and videos by artists affiliated to the coalition.

The platform will also host the manifesto and policy discussions by Jubilee advisory team and technocrats, as well as an open forum of the discussions and comments by Jubilee supporters.

Developed by Jubilee’s Developers for UhuRuto2013 team, the application is available for download from the Google Play store and for those using devices such as Nokia S40, iPad, iPhone and tablets. The platform is accessible via mobile Web at Uhuruto2013.com.

“Developers for UhuRuto2013 are a group of young and innovative techies who support and endorse Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta as their Presidential Candidate and would like to see more innovation in the ICT sector as articulated by the Jubilee coalition in their recently launched manifesto,” the app’s developers said in a statement.

The adoption of technology in many African countries has transformed how African leaders contesting elected positions interact and sell their policies to the people. Social networking sites and blogs have become useful tools, a change from the previous electioneering periods half a decade ago.
