Mobile East Africa begins in Nairobi tomorrow

The rebranded Mobile East Africa, the fourth event of its kind, begins in Nairobi, Kenya, tomorrow, with appearance by former permanent secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communication Dr Bitange Ndemo and mobile expert Tomi Ahonen.

The event will take place over three days at the Southern Sun Mayfair hotel, and features speakers from Safaricom, Airtel Africa, IBM, SAP and a number of incubators and startups.

Ahonen will deliver a special address and run a full-day workshop on Friday, February 14.

His biography on the event page reads: “Lecturing at Oxford University’s short courses on mobile, Tomi is referenced in over 140 books by his peers. Seen at over 300 conferences speaking in over 60 countries on all six inhabited continents, his cumulative audience has passed 100,000 people. His opinions are quoted in over 400 press articles such as Wall Street Journal, Business Week, the Economist and Financial Times. Forbes measured Tomi as the world’s most influential expert in mobile in 2012.”
