The Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited in partnership with the Universal Communication Service Access Fund is seeking to upgrade basic telecoms services in rural Tanzania.
The project will cover 16 regions and seeks to tackle poverty in rural areas such as Arusha, Tabora, Iringa, Kagera, Manyara, Dodoma, Lindi, Mbeya, Morogoro and Mtwara.
The total coverage of the project will include 33 constituencies, 202 villages and connect 300,000 people.
“Our aim is to make sure that every constituency and village that was lacking telecommunication for a long time, to have that access,” said Kazaura.
Future development will include areas such as Mwanza, Pwani, Ruvuma, Shinyanga, Singida and Tanga.
