Apple has released the latest update to its mobile operating system iOS, weeks after a security patch providing a fix for secure sockets layer (SSL) connection verification.

iOS 7.1 provides updates to the aesthetics of the operating system as well as CarPlay connectivity.

“iOS 7.1 is packed with interface refinements, bug fixes, improvements, and new features. Apple CarPlay introduces a better way to use iPhone while driving. And you can now control exactly how long Siri listens and more,” Apple said on its website.

The new release allows the user to manually control Siri by holding down the Home button while speaking and releasing it when done.

The update provides iPhone 5s users with the capability of automatically taking HDR photographs.

Last month Apple released iOS 7.06, providing security patches to the operating system.

“Secure Transport failed to validate the authenticity of the connection. This issue was addressed by restoring missing validation step,” Apple said in a post.

“An attacker with a privileged network position may capture or modify data in sessions protected by SSL/TLS.”
