Ralf Wenzel, global managing director of foodpanda/hellofood, has said the company’s ability to commence operations in new markets gives it a huge competitive advantage, with the online food delivery marketplace having spread to 40 countries in 22 months.
The company said it has year-on-year growth of 100 percent and has partnered with more than 22,000 restaurants, commencing operations in Algeria, Uganda, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, Lebanon, Serbia and Kazakhstan in the early months of this year, with more to follow later in 2014.
“foodpanda/hellofood is now a global market leader in online food delivery,” the company said in a statement.
Wenzel said it was hitting new markets as quickly as possible which had given the company its competitive advantage.
“Our accelerated growth is proof that our model works and that our customers enjoy the convenience we offer to them. We have great local teams in every country we operate in and we will continue to work hard to make our products available in even more countries and look forward to the opportunities ahead,” he said.
