An Eastern European gang of hackers are reported to be to blame for malware attacks on 40 companies including Apple, Facebook and Twitter.
HumanIPO reported yesterday Apple was the latest victim of hacking attacks, although the technology giant said no data had been taken.
Investigators working with the companies involved suspect the hackers are Russian or Eastern European, with one server being tracked to the Ukraine, reported Bloomberg.
It is thought the attacks are aimed at obtaining company secrets, research and intellectual property which could then be sold underground.
Hacking attempts of this kind have previously been thought to come from China.
