Okigbo elected Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria president

Pius Okigbo Jr has been elected the new president of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) following the election of a new National Executive Council (NEC) that will run the institute till 2016.

Okigbo and other members of the NEC were elected at the institute’s Annual General Meeting held at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos. Members of the NEC are Pius Okigbo Jr, James Emadoye, Yele Okeremi, Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, Collins Onuegbu, and Dr Abiodun Falade.

Other members of the council are Pius Ekeh Jr, Titus Olowokere, and Femi Ayo-Yusuf.

Okigbo in his acceptance speech described the new council as dynamic and strong, saying the members are a reflection of an eclectic mix of industry leaders in software and services across economic sectors from start-ups to mature champions of the IT Industry.

“In furtherance of the goals of ISPON, the next two years would focus on an aggressive push for Software Nigeria emphasising a software-centric local content agenda underpinned by a nation-wide software capacity-building initiative to establish the industry as the engine of Nigeria’s new economy,” he said.
