South Africa internet service provider (ISP) Internet Solutions has announced it will be deploying 500 gigabit per second (Gb/s) fibre optic capabilities across its long distance network in South Africa, enabling the company to differentiate its services and manage costs as it scales its network.
“Deploying the first 500 Gb/s super-channels across South Africa with Internet Solutions significantly increases the capacity available to business and consumers in the region,” said Chris Champion, senior vice president of sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Infinera.
Internet Solutions currently services over 80 per cent of companies listed by the Johannesburg Stock exchange (JSE).
“Using the Infinera Intelligent Transport Network solution, Internet Solutions can now offer 10, 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet services to its clients across the long distance fibres it manages across South Africa,” the company said.
Internet Solutions said as it now has complete control of its network, its clients would benefit from faster provisioning of bandwidth and quicker fault resolution times.
“The Infinera Intelligent Transport Network solution provides us with a cutting edge optical transport solution, allowing us to offer the highest lit capacity in a South African backbone,” said Prenesh Padayachee, chief technology officer (CTO) at Internet Solutions.
