Cape Town hosting gaming competition

Cape Town will host the MWEB GameZone Master Series “Call of Duty Ghosts” LAN this weekend as part of an initiative to bring gaming into the mainstream.

The event takes place at MWEB’s Parow offices on April 5 and 6, and will feature gamers from all over the country battling it out for cash and gaming-related prizes.

“What makes the event interesting is that gaming is finally starting to become accepted in the mainstream in South Africa, it now has its own official body MSSA (like CricketSA for Cricket) and even schools are starting to give kids school colours for gaming achievements,” said Cape Town LAN.

“Call of Duty Ghost is huge overseas, with major tournaments happening around the world, and now we have a major local tournament here too,” the organisers said.
