South African mobile messaging and payments provider Infobip has launched the country’s first end-to-end business messaging solution, allowing organisations to message end users without third party involvement.
Infobip said the development makes it the only provider to enable banks, brands, OTTs, social networks, aggregators and other companies a direct SMS messaging line to communicate with their end-users, with no intermediary system at any point in the interaction chain.
“It’s not only a unique architecture in South Africa, but also a unique technical concept on a global scale,” said Silvio Kutic, chief executive officer (CEO) of Infobip.
“Each part in the message delivery chain is our own product, from mGate and IP Core, to the very SMSC.
“Developed, maintained and controlled by Infobip exclusively, all these elements form a powerful end-to-end messaging solution, delivering secure communication of exceptional quality.
“Paired with a transactional, no CapEx, no OpEx business model that allows excellent commercial terms, this state-of-the-art solution is a crown of our 2-year long work in South Africa, and a great achievement of our technical teams,” the CEO said.
The solution consists of locally deployed, redundant infrastructure including internal processing (IP) core, and a proprietary A2P SMSC with direct access to SS7 network, and also offers easy integration methods.
Infobip said the offering is supported by a network including an alliance with a licenced mobile network operator, a dedicated team on the ground, and accessible technical support.
The company said the system will bring “security, reliability and simplicity” to businesses of all scales.
