Ghanaian church launches 24-hour online TV channel

Ghana’s Soul Food Ministries International (SFMI) church has launched a 24-hour online television channel to make Christian teachings more accessible round the clock, in the latest technological activity the church has embarked on.

The website – www.soulfoodtv.tv – will host videos preaching the word of God, and will explain the activities of the church’s Information Communication Technology College and all the activities within the church, reports the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

Members of the church and the public at large will be able to share testimonials, comments and blogs, participate in online prayer sessions, and be part of a social community, said pastor Eddie Letsa, general overseer at SFMI.

“This is a highly interactive, entertaining, motivational, inspiring and spiritually enlightening website which brings to millions God’s eternal Word on the go,” Letsa told GNA.

The website is the latest in a number of technology-based initiatives of the SFMI, which has been running a ICT training programme for five years.

Letsa said the church has just completed the training of 800 more students, under its free for all ICT training programme, which aims to give youth skills to strengthen their employability, while also contributing to a solid economy.

The programme is open to members of the church and the public equally, and sees students participate in courses on a range of ICT topics, including computer hardware, the use of Windows packages and Cisco-certified network administration, to name a few.

Letsa said 5,788 students have been trained so far under the initiative, and asked companies and civil organisations to consider partnering with the church in providing the training.
