South Africa’s part state-owned operator Telkom Mobile has announced its customers will be able to buy the Samsung Galaxy S5 as of Friday, with a range of data offers also available to cater to the high data needs of the device.
According to Telkom Mobile, the Galaxy S5 – which will roll out across the country in Telkom Mobile stores on Friday – hosts a myriad of innovative features which require a quality network and “lots of data” to enjoy.
As such, the operator has launched what it claims to be South Africa’s first unlimited package, featuring unlimited voice calls, SMSs, data and Wi-Fi for a fixed monthly fee of ZAR1,599 (US$153) on a 24-month contract.
“For a flat monthly rate one never has to worry about topping up, running out of data or paying extra on their contract while exploring the Samsung Galaxy S5 universe,” said Telkom Mobile.
The device will also be available on the entry level SmartPlan 100 deal, with an extra two gigabytes (GB) of data provided on a 24-month contract in addition to the usual elements of the package at the cost of ZAR449 (US$43) per month, while customers can also opt for the SmartPlan 50 contract at ZAR419 (US$40) monthly for 24 months.
Telkom recommended customers to order the Galaxy S5 device online to avoid queues, with the device currently available for pre-order.
“Based on the response since we started online pre-orders we expect the Samsung Galaxy S5 to be snapped up by customers. Telkom will begin processing these pre-orders on Friday April 11, 2014, when the device goes on sale at Telkom stores around the country,” said Kagiso Moncho, Telkom Mobile executive for commercial product development.
“For customers who want to be among the first to get the new Samsung smartphone without standing in long queues, they can order the device from our online shop at http://www.telkommobile.co.za/deals/ and have the device delivered to them.”
