East African startup event PIVOT East has released its judging criteria for the startups from all of the countries that will be eligible to participate.
HumanIPO reported in February on the opening of applications for the fourth edition of PIVOT East, which will be held in Nairobi, Kenya on June 24 and 25.
Prior to the event there will be a funnel-shaped filtration process that will assess startups at various stages, starting with 50 semi-finalists, which will then be cut down to the final 25 from which the five category winners will be chosen at the event.
“Upon the close of applications on the April 11, a panel of industry experts and investors with wide expertise in entrepreneurship, business development, software development and investor relations will assess startups at the various stages of selection,” said the m:lab’s Sheila Birgen.
Among the criteria to be used for selection will be problem and customer segments, the solution to the problem, revenue streams envisaged and tested, technological advantage and analysis of competitive landscape.
Others are customer acquisition and channels, team composition and commitment level, and market traction and secondary achievements.
