The Samsung Galaxy S5 has gone on sale in Nigeria, even though an official event to introduce the flagship device in West Africa will not be held until April 16 in Lagos, according to Emmanouil Revmatas, Samsung’s director of information technology and mobile.
The Galaxy S5 officially became available at all authorised Samsung partner stores across Nigeria and participating telecom operators from 11am on Thursday, while the Gear 2 and Gear Fit will be available from Monday.
Samsung also said it would be announcing a special Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) warranty cover on the Galaxy S5 next week.
The S5 is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core processor and boasts a 5.1-inch super AMOLED display. It has an upgraded 16-megapixel camera, new fitness tracking features, a heart rate scanner, an ultra-power saving mode and is dust and water (IP67) resistant.
It debuts a fingerprint scanner feature which is integrated with the device’s home button and provides consumers with a safe, biometric screen-locking feature.
