The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has launched its emergency line, accessible from all mobile devices by dialling 112.
Although several Nigerian states have their respective emergency services, this is the first national emergency of its kind in Nigeria.
The line is toll free and members of the public are free to call in times of emergency.
The commission urged members of the public to only use the service in times of emergency and desist from making prank calls, calling when there is no emergency, or giving misleading information.
