Apple is offering to fix iPhone 5 smartphones with faulty on-off buttons that either stop working or only work intermittently.
On its website, Apple said a “small percentage” of iPhone 5 models manufactured in March 2013 could be having such problems.
“Apple will replace the sleep/wake button mechanism, free of charge, on iPhone 5 models that exhibit this issue and have a qualifying serial number,” Apple said.
The website also had instructions for people with such phones to go through the replacement process.
For the United States (US) and Canada the process started on Friday and will begin in other countries on May 2.
