ZTE Corporation has launched eight mobile devices in the Kenyan market to compete against earlier entrants such as Samsung, Nokia, Tecno and LG.

Speaking at the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi, Mark Jin, ZTE Corporation Kenya sales director, said the company is offering entry level and high-end smartphones as well as mobile broadband modems.

He said this year the company will primarily focus on selling three major devices.

“We are offering Kenyans two entry level smartphones, the V795 Android phone, and Firefox OS devices Open 2 and Nubia Z5S Mini, which is an expansion of the ZTE’s Nubia line as the high-end smartphone,” he said.

The Open 2 is a phone manufactured in partnership with Mozilla.

Other smartphones launched by ZTE include the ZTE Blade L2, V829 ZTE Blade G Pro, Blade C2 Plus and the V811-Kis 3. The company also unveiled the MF25A, MF65 and MF667 modems.

The price of the devices was not revealed, though Jin said an announcement was due soon and that the phones will be sold in partnership with operators and through a distribution chain.
