World Bank entrepreneurship grant programme infoDev has announced it will be sponsoring mobile startup competition PIVOT East for the fourth consecutive year, hoping to provide support to growth oriented entrepreneurs on the continent.
HumanIPO reported last month the competition organisers had announced numerous key sponsors for the event, including Chase Bank as the Gold Sponsor.
infoDev has sponsored the event, which is organised by m:labs in Nairobi, since 2011.
PIVOT East and infoDev’s partnership encourages startups and entrepreneurs to grow their businesses in revenue, access to finance and eventually contribute to the creation of jobs in the industry.
“m:lab East Africa and Pivot East are flagship activities of infoDev’s Mobile Innovation Program” said Valerie D’Costa, programme manager at infoDev.
“They demonstrate how mobile technologies have lowered the market barriers for aspiring entrepreneurs and have led to viable companies. We will continue to work with our mLabs around the world as they propel positive, disruptive change.”
