The Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) is planning to install a KSh260 million (US$3 million) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) as part of the corporation’s plans to automate office functions to improve efficiency in end-to-end operations.
TechnoBrain and Reason Solution Consortium have been tasked with implementing the project, which will affect departments including finance, accounts, human resources, procurement and retail chain processes.
The PCK currently uses a number of stand-alone business applications for various functionalities which are independent of each other, and therefore lack a centralised source of data for management information systems.
Postmaster general Dr Enock Kinara said the ERP system would also result in higher revenues as well as reduced cost of operations.
He said improving ICT infrastructure and prioritising ICT in budgeting could help the corporation in realigning its operations and strengthening its profit margins.
“This why we Invested US$1 million in a Posta Pesa payment solution in 2013 to enable us to transact several operations electronically such as agency banking, mobile money transfers, e-commerce and e-payment of utility bills among others,” said Kinara.
