PC and tablet manufacturer Asus recorded in its PC market share to 9.3 per cent from 7.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2014, according to quarterly Gartner PC shipment results for the Europe, Africa and Middle East (EMEA) region.
According to the report Asus is now the overall leader in the hybrid market, with the Transformer T100 – the company’s flagship hybrid gadget – driving the company’s quarter-over-quarter performance.
“The successful growth for Asus in the PC market is partly as a result of the growing uptake of the hybrid gadgets like the Asus Transformer book in the emerging markets like Kenya. As a market leader in the hybrid market, Asus continues to advance its commitment in advancing our consumers’ gadgets needs,” said Chris Wen, product manager for Asus Kenya.
The company earlier this year added to its hybrid portfolio with the introduction of the Padfone mini at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in California, USA. This is a hybrid device that houses a four-inch phone in a 7-inch tablet. It is also preparing to locally introduce the Padfone to add onto the already existing Transformer T100.
“To leverage on the hybrid uptake, Asus is targeting to introduce the Padfone in the second half of this year. We hope that this introduction will add to the increasing appetite for hybrid gadgets which are better performing” said Wen.
