Airtel Malawi has announced the appointment of German Heiko Schlittke as the network’s new managing director, replacing Saulosi Chilima who has left the company to enter politics.
The company said Schlittke has more than 20 years of experience in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs), media and telecommunications.
In a chat with newsmen in Lilongwe, Schlittke commended his predecessor for taking Airtel to the country’s rural market.
“I would like to take it from where my predecessor stopped off and even penetrate and continue to work in that direction – the unreached population,” he said.
He said he remains committed to the acceleration of the network’s business towards providing broader services such as mobile banking and mobile data, which he said would provide affordable communication access to all Malawians.
Airtel Malawi also announced finance director Amadoue Dina, previously acting managing director has been promoted to managing director of Airtel Seychelles.
