OpenWeb launches uncapped, unlimited broadband in SA

South African internet service provider (ISP) OpenWeb has launched an uncapped, unlimited fixed line broadband offering, promising internet access without shaping or throttling measures.

Through its limited edition “Business Uncapped, Unshaped” package, OpenWeb said it is providing “truly unlimited broadband” for business and home users who want unhindered internet access.

““Why should we care how much data our client has used on the account? Unlimited means just that,” said Keoma Wright, chief executive officer (CEO) of OpenWeb.

“Some ISPs monitor client data so that they can enforce drastic throttling policies, making an account slow or even unusable. By default, we don’t monitor anyone’s usage on uncapped accounts.”

Available from May 1 to a limited number of customers, the offering allows customers to use as many devices as they like on the network.

Running on the MTN ADSL backbone, the uncapped OpenWeb offering is available in four packages depending on bandwidth required.

Customers can opt for 2Mbps at a cost of ZAR449 (US$43.4) per month, 4Mbps for ZAR699 (US$67.5) monthly, 10Mbps costing ZAR999 (US$96.5) per month, or 20Mbps at ZAR1999 (US$193.1) monthly.
