Motorola launches TC55 in Kenya

Motorola Solutions has launched the TC55 Touch Mobile Computer in Kenya, promising users operation system (OS) diversity and more security.

The device, which was launched at a Nairobi hotel and runs on 4th generation Android, will target field service, merchandising and direct store delivery in the market.

Retailing at KSh85,000 (US$1,000), the device has a high capacity battery, dual front facing speakers, an 8MP camera with barcode scanning capability and a capacitive screen that responds to touch when wearing gloves or with wet fingers.

Motorola Solutions account manager for East Africa James Kamweti said the device targets governments and companies involved in manufacturing and field mobility, transport and logistics, retail and hospitality, energy and utilities and education and healthcare.

“What will give value to our customers is the fact that we are giving a six-year guarantee including two years of service. We understand that enterprises unlike individuals cannot change devices every 12 to 24 months as this is a huge investment,” said Kamweti.

Claas Kuehnemann, head of enterprise business in Africa for Motorola Solutions, said: “Developers can also leverage and develop standard Android applications or HTML5 cross platform applications using RhoMobile Suite 4.0.”
