Orange has connected the Kenyan counties of Marsabit, Nandi, Vihiga and Lamu to its Broadband Virtual Private Network (BVPN) solution, taking the total number of connected counties to 31.
HumanIPO reported last month Orange Kenya had connected 27 governors’ offices and county assemblies to its network in an effort to deliver key ICT services to the counties, targeted at offering customised end-to-end solutions for the company’s clients in all sectors countrywide.
Orange Kenya chief executive officer (CEO) Mickael Ghossein said the company was keen to deliver high speed broadband internet to all parts of the country.
“Among the other areas we can support the county governments include e-security, optimised revenue management and optimised county resource management, business continuity management, robust public transport and fleet management, call centres, as well as bringing about a high level of efficiency to e-health services, education and agriculture,” he said.
Ghossein said the connections to the county governors’ offices and county assemblies were the initial phases of interactions with the counties, as the business works on more opportunities to partner with the devolved governments.
