Western Union has launched its first receive-enabled website globally in Nigeria.
The company said funds from over 200 countries and territories can now be received at any of about 5,000 retail agent locations in Nigeria or via www.WesternUnion.ng, while funds can be directed into Guaranty Trust Bank, Skye Bank, Stanbic IBTC Bank and Wema Bank accounts.
“We are happy to announce that Western Union services in Nigeria are continuing to evolve in keeping with the changing needs of consumers,” Western Union’s regional vice president for Africa Aida Diarra said in a statement.
Diarra said through the platform Western Union is supporting the Central Bank of Nigeria’s objective of providing modern and efficient payment systems for consumers in the country by pioneering a new digital channel through its website.
“Western Union is growing its network and increasing consumer access to our services worldwide,” said Khalid Fellahi, senior vice president and general manager of Western Union Digital.
“Western Union will continue to explore opportunities that facilitate financial inclusion and increase speed to market for new money transfer services in key regions around the world.”
