Arizona-based Comtech EF Data Corp has been awarded a US$1 million order for infrastructure equipment by an unnamed mobile network operator (MNO) in Africa to support a satellite mobile backhaul network.
Comtech said the order specified the combination of the new CDM-625A Advanced Satellite Modem and indoor frequency converters.
It said several indoor frequency converter models were ordered, including the UT Series Up Converters, the DT Series Down Converters and the MBT-5000 Up/Down Converter System.
“The converters can be used for SCPC, DAMA and TDMA. The MBT-5000 provides frequency conversion between L-Band IF and C-/X-/Ku-Band RF frequencies. Featuring a drop down front panel providing access to two hot swappable modules, the system offers a mix of conversion functionality or 1:1 redundant system operation,” Comtech said.
“There are more MNOs relying on Comtech EF Data equipment to power their satellite-based infrastructure than any other provider,” said Fred Kornberg, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. “Our award-winning and patented technologies provide unrivaled spectral efficiencies and optimization to enable operators to fully leverage satellite capacity.”
