Two executives from the China-owned ZTE Corporation have been deported from Kenya, though no reasons have been given.
The Standard reports director of government enterprises Yang Yong and marketing director Zou Lingying were picked at 3am on Saturday in Nairobi and held for about 12 hours before Ministry of Interior cabinet secretary Joseph ole Lenku reportedly signed the deportation orders at 6pm.
The two directors – who were then deported at 10pm – have been battling to retain a tender they won that would have them supply police with communication and surveillance equipment.
The tender has been challenged in court by privately owned Huawei Technologies.
Lawyers CN Kihara and Assa Nyakundi said they had not been not informed of the deportation nor received an explanation from the state for the deportation.
