Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in partnership with Visa has launched its MeCash prepaid card to allow users to make payments with more ease.
Speaking at the launch, KCB managing director Samuel Makome said the world is going cashless and KCB is delighted to be part of the exciting journey.
“In our effort to remain competitive in the card business, today we launch a new KCB MeCash prepaid card which is Visa-enabled,” he said. “The prepaid card, which is based on EMV chip technology, allows users to manage their finances by eliminating the need to carry cash, while enjoying the convenience of shopping at any Visa-enabled physical or online retail points.”
Makome said the partnership hopes to enhance convenience, security, accessibility and efficiency for KCB customers.
Visa country manager Jabu Basopo said the launch of the KCB MeCash prepaid card will allow KCB customers to manage their finances by eliminating the need to carry cash.
“As a global payments technology company, we see one of the most valuable contributions we can make as helping to bring more people into the formal financial system. We do so by creating pathways to financial inclusion for the financial underserved through our products, services, technology and payments and our strategic partnerships,” said Basopo.
