Enterprises are facing the need to redefine their IT infrastructure to enable them to host new and fast applications which will service billions of users and enable them to harness the power and benefits big data can offer.
This is according to EMC Corporation LEMA region managing director Nazim Fraijat, who was speaking at the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) inaugural East Africa CIO Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, taking place today.
Fraijat said today’s CIOs face challenges in delivering efficiencies, performance and agility for the business through the existing data centres of the second platform of IT, while bridging to the third platform with the infrastructure architecture that will enable businesses to launch new and mobile web applications.
“With the advent of the platform comes the challenge of managing growing workloads, servicing more customers than ever before without adding the costs or complexity to the existing environment,” said Fraijat.
