Facebook users could not access the website for a time this morning following an error, with the company insisting all problems have now been fixed.
Users across the world found themselves offline this morning, with those trying to access the website meeting the message: “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as possible.”
Facebook admitted downtime occurred, but did not reveal the source or extent of the problem.
“Earlier this morning, we experienced an issue that prevented people from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time,” a Facebook spokesperson said.
“We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 per cent. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
On other social media channels, panic broke out over the inaccessibility of Facebook, often to be met with ridicule and commentaries on society’s over-reliance on social media.
#facebookdown an important moment in history. Feels like the electricity being out. Looking for candles.
