Deloitte’s Fast50 Africa initiative launched to recognise technological innovation

Deloitte has announced the launch of its Technology Fast50 Africa initiative, recognising the 50 fastest growing technology companies in Africa based on revenue growth over the last five years.

“We at Deloitte want to reward companies who have achieved the status of high growth leaders because they have demonstrated innovative strategies, sound management and marketplace vision,” Kamal Ramsingh, technology leader for Africa at Deloitte, said.

The organisers said the awards are all about growth driven by leading intellectual property and are a celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship.

“The Technology Fast50 Africa is part of an international programme run by Deloitte. Qualifying entrants of the Technology Fast50 Africa will be put forward to the Deloitte Technology Fast500 EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) programme, along with entrants from other national programmes run by Deloitte in the EMEA region,” organisers said.

To qualify, companies among other criteria must be run by and majority-owned by African citizens, have base operating revenues of at least US$750 000, have current year operating revenues of at least US$500 000, be headquartered on the continent, and operational for a minimum of five years.

Winners of the Deloitte Fast50 Africa are eligible for the prestigious Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA which ranks the 500 fastest growing technology companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
