An anonymous hacker has published financial and personal information and Hollywood stars and US politicians, with Hillary Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, Jay-Z and Beyonce among those targeted.
US entertainment website TMZ.com reported yesterday social security numbers and credit card details, among other things, had been published online, with the FBI and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) now investigating.
All details were made public by the hacker using screenshots of online banking information.
Hacking has been particularly big news recently, with Apple among the list of high profile companies victimised. HumanIPO reported yesterday worldwide hacking group Anonymous had targeted mining firm Anglo American, while the South African State Security Ministry’s Twitter account was also recently hacked.
The Chinese and American governments have also accused each other of engaging in cyber attacks.
Kim Kardashian, Ashton Kutcher, Mel Gibson, Paris Hilton, Attorney General Eric Holder, FBI director Robert Mueller and LAPD chief Charlie Beck were among other victims of this latest hacking.
