Efiko, a mobile social quiz platform designed for school students in Nigeria, will use a grant of GBP18,000 (US$31,000) from the Indigo Trust for platform and content development, according to Ade Adebayo, co-founder and team lead.
With the grant, he said the platform would be able to serve students at the junior secondary school level.
‘There will be the addition of junior secondary school (JSS) content so that JSS students can also use Efiko to revise and learn,” he said. “We will also be expanding senior secondary school (SSS) subjects from seven to 12.”
Efiko said a number of factors could have been involved in Indigo Trust deciding to offer the grant.
“Our unique way of working with teachers and schools – Efiko contents are developed by teachers and we have students from over 200 schools on the platform,” he said. “We made a conscious effort to solve a problem in the Nigerian secondary school sector: mass failure every year by Nigerian students. Efiko is a tool for students to use free of charge to test what they know and how well they know.”
He said the platform provides access to all students irrespective of economic background by making the application free for all users.
