MTN set to launch music streaming app in Nigeria

MTN Nigeria is planning to launch music streaming app Music+ in a bid to redefine and revolutionise the entertainment industry in Nigeria.

The network said the app is a converged music streaming and download platform, optimised for mobile and online access and socially enabled to accommodate cross-user activity.

While it is free to download the app, subscribers will pay NGN50 (US$0.30) to download a song.

Speaking under condition of anonymity, an MTN Nigeria representative said the app is currently at the beta testing phase and will be released later this month.

Music+ allows users to either stream or download songs, and  navigate from one song or category to another freely. They can also get loyalty points from consumption activities such as subscription, downloading and gifting.

The network said it will also be offering the cheapest data allocation to the app in addition to in-app data balance enquiry, Facebook login, Y’ello Top 10, MTN Fuse and MTN Project Fame Syndication, as well as convenient subscription plans and payment methods.
