Vodacom rolls out new phones

South Africa’s leading operator Vodacom has announced four new mobile devices will be available on its network as of July, three of which will be available exclusively to Vodacom customers for a limited period.

Vodacom revealed the Huawei Ascend P7 will be available only to Vodacom customers via the operator’s shops as well as online until August 6, available on the Vodacom Smart S plan for ZAR379 (US$35) per month or at a recommended retail price of ZAR6,699 (US$620).

The operator announced a range of special offers for customers purchasing the new device,  with the first 100 customers to purchase a new contract or upgrade to the P7 at Vodacom World from July 9 to receive free Huawei Bluetooth speakers; the first 20 customers to purchase a new contract or upgrade to the P7 at Vodacom World from 26 July receiving a free Huawei G6; and the first 50 online customers approved for a P7 contract to be given a free Huawei Bluetooth speaker.

The BlackBerry Z3 will also be available exclusively to Vodacom customers as of mid-July on the Vodacom Smart S plan, at a cost of  ZAR249 (US$23) per month; while the recommended selling price is ZAR2,999 (US$279).

The Alcatel One Touch Idol Alpha will also be limited to Vodacom customers who can purchase the device from Vodacom stores from July 1, and online from July 7, at a recommended retail price of ZAR5,989 (US$560).

The fourth device to become available on the Vodacom network is the HTC OneM8, which customers can buy from the operator’s shops as of July 1, and online from July 7.

The HTC OneM8 will be available on the Vodacom smart S plan at a monthly cost of ZAR499 (US$46.4), and carries a recommended selling price of ZAR11,119 (US$1,035).

Vodacom promised further devices will be rolled out soon, including the LG G3, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini and Vodafone smart 4 power.
