Samsung, MultiChoice sign DStv deal

Samsung South Africa and MultiChoice have announced a partnership that will see DStv decoders built into Samsung televisions.

The companies used the 2013 Samsung Africa Forum yesterday to confirm the deal, which will also see MultiChoice’s new digital television service GoTV sold in Samsung outlets stores.

“Working with Samsung will significantly increase our continental footprint, giving subscribers easy access to all our products through the cooperation of Samsung dealers and distributors,” said Nico Meyer, CEO of MultiChoice Africa.

It is the latest partnership arrangement for Samsung South Africa, with HumanIPO reporting yesterday the company had signed a deal with operator Vodacom to collaborate on mobile and network infrastructure services for businesses, to provide a more integrated mobile solution portfolio.

As part of the partnership, Vodacom will provide customised services to Samsung devices, while Samsung will provide Vodacom with an on-site service provision team.

“The changing needs of enterprise customers are increasingly seeing organisations across industries working together to offer jointly-developed solutions that provide users with a more integrated product offering,” said Paulo Ferreira, head of enterprise mobility at Samsung Electronics South Africa.
