An agreement between the South African division of mobile brand Samsung and internet provider AlwaysOn will offer free Wi-Fi access on Samsung smart devices from hotspots.
All owners of three-year-old and more recent models of Samsung devices are eligible to use 1GB of free internet via AlwaysOn hotspots for 12 months.
Craige Fleischer, director of Mobile Communications at Samsung South Africa, said: “The partnership with AlwaysOn is a natural extension of our value proposition to our customers.”
Fleischer hinted that Samsung subscribers can look forward to more releases of content-based services as the company acknowledges the lifestyle-suited acquisition of different mobile devices.
She added: “We live in the connected age and it makes sense for Samsung to incorporate a service offering that combines innovative mobile devices with national wireless connectivity.”
According to Nico Pretorius, managing director at AlwaysOn, the joint venture boosts the company’s clientele for an exchange of “the most substantial Wi-Fi coverage in the country”.
HumanIPO reported yesterday on Samsung’s recent collaboration with South African network provider Vodacom to provide local businesses with infrastructure services as part of an integrated mobile solution portfolio.
