MTN Rwanda has launched cloud computing services for businesses, claiming to be the first provider to offer cloud services in the country.
The operator said its new cloud based business automation offering is intended to help enterprises across the professional services, micro-finance, health and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sectors cut costs and improve productivity.
“As the first telecoms operator to offer Cloud Services to businesses in Rwanda, MTN will be providing access to ICT services to businesses while helping them minimize their infrastructure costs,” said MTN Business General Manager, Norman Munyampundu.
“Instead of having separate systems for each section in a company, MTN Cloud Services enables these companies to share a common pool of resources and operate more efficiently.”
The MTN Business Cloud offers cloud collaboration – for companies’ employees to share their documents remotely -; cloud backup to keep files secure from data corruption, theft and other losses; cloud customer management for companies to access their customer information from anywhere; file and server management back-up service MozyPro; and McAfee anti-virus and email security.
“MTN’s new vision is to lead in the delivery of bold new digital services and the launch of Cloud Services demonstrates our commitment in realising this vision. MTN Cloud Services will further enhance our offering and increase value for our customers, particularly those in the trade and retail, and professional services sectors,” Munyampundu said.
MTN customers can pay for Cloud Services using MTN Mobile Money, while some of the services are available for free on a 30 to 60-day trial period.
The Cloud Services are already available in Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Cameroon, Guinea Conakry, Cote d’Ivoire, South Africa and Swaziland.
