Huawei Technologies has launched Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in Tanzania, which it says will not only boost communications and video surveillance for enterprises, but will also support the government’s anti-poaching campaign.

According to Huawei, using LTE enabled video tracking devices for quick and accurate dispatch decision making can be effective in the current anti-poaching campaign being implemented in Tanzania, reports the Daily News.

“We have introduced into the Tanzania market the latest technology, LTE’ which is a state of the art mobile solution for critical communication as well as mobile video surveillance especially in transporting of important goods or people,” said Moses Hella, channel executive at Huawei.

“We believe that by installing this device in areas where illegal poaching is rampant will boost the ability of game wardens to monitor and track activities going on in the game reserves and national parks,” Hella said.

Hella said introducing wireless cameras and mobile surveillance system to national game reserves across the country will go a long way towards supporting the government’s anti-poaching efforts.

Hella said similar e-LTE technologies have been put to use in more than 30 countries, in a range of sectors and organisations including the military, police, power, ports and airports, and oil and gas sectors.
