Bharti Airtel is concluding talks with American Tower Corporation (ATC) and Eaton Towers on the sale of its tower assets in several African countries including Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda, according to a report.
The Economic Times reports the talks are advanced, with the deal’s value estimated between US$1.5 billion and US$2 billion.
The Economic Times reports Airtel’s spokesperson declined to comment.
HumanIPO reported in November last year similar rumours emerged that Bharti Airtel was planning the sale of its tower business in Africa for US$1.8 billion.
In July Bharti Airtel sold 3,100 telecom towers in four African countries to Helios Towers Africa, in a deal worth US$2 billion; with Airtel estimated to own a further 14,500 towers in Africa.
