The management of Heritage Bank one of Nigeria’s commercial banks has launched portable POS solution a Mobile Point of Sale (mPOS) product that getting popular in various parts of the world.
Niyi Adeseun, executive director, Manila Banking, Heritage Bank said: “The Nigerian retail and corporate market is undergoing a massive transformation in a battle for digital consumers who shop through a variety of channels, and as such expect a more integrated payment experience that is quick, seamless, convenient, and most importantly secure.”
The solution is app-based and operates on mobile devices and the bank said the innovation would be given to its customers for free.
It accepts various card types including MasterCard, VISA and Verve. It operates as a regular mobile phone but comes with a battery that last longer; the device could also be synchronized with phones and printer via Bluetooth connectivity. It also offers customers three ticketing options –email, SMS and print.
“Today, small businesses and large retailers are turning to mobile point of sale (or mPOS) to increase sales and broaden their customer base,” said Niyi.
