Sulaiman Teslim Olalekan, founder of Shopinfo.com.ng, a mobile application that helps shoppers source goods in local shops, check stock availability and compare prices, has emerged the overall winner of the Entrepreneurs Pitching Contest at the recently held British Council Creative Industries Expo in Lagos, Nigeria.
The contest featured 8 entrepreneurs that pitched to the audience and were assessed by a panel of judges thatt included Leslie Donna Williams of Impact Hub, South Africa; Tola Akerele of Bogobiri House and iDesign and Olufunbi Falayi, co-Founder of Passion Incubator.
The two runners-up were David Ugoagbara of Priceleakers.com, an online marketplace for building materials, Ayodele Elegba of Comicpanel.org, an online hub for comics and related industries.
Organisers of the contest said the three startups will receive desk space, advisory services, mentoring and incubation from the Enterprise Creative HotHouse, Passion Incubator, Wennovation Hub and IDEA Hub. They will also get seed funding – NGN300,000 to Shopinfo.com.ng and NGN100,000 to the two runners-up from CBO Capital, a Lagos-based financial advisory firm.
