Airtel Uganda lowers calling rates to African destinations

Airtel Uganda has announced a new calling rate to all African destinations widely expected to cut costs for Ugandan’s looking to make voice calls across the continent.

The new rate will see the customers call any destination in Africa for as little as USh10 per second or even less.

Calls to Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and DRC will cost USh6 per second, while calls to Nigeria and Nigeria will cost USh6 per second too.

Before the announcement, customers paid between USh450 to1500 per minute to make calls to most African destination.
The new rate is viewed as the best offer in the market.

Somasekhar VG., Managing Director, Airtel Uganda said lower rates will allow Airtel subscribers to communicate across Africa with ease.

He affirmed Airtel’s commitment to connect the continent and break any cross-border communication barriers through providing affordable communication.

Ruhakana Rugunda, Minister of ICT in Uganda, said for the communication divide in Africa to be bridged, stakeholders have to respond to the growing demands by providing innovative and advanced ICT solutions that make mobile telephony, and other communication available and affordable to all.
