WhatsApp has denied reports it is negotiating with Google over the US$1 billion acquisition of the messaging app.
HumanIPO reported yesterday claims by Digital Trends an “inside source” had confirmed negotiations began four or five weeks ago, but WhatsApp was “playing hardball” over the acquisition price.
But Neeraj Arora, WhatsApp’s head of business development, has now told AllThingsD no talks have taken place.
WhatsApp last year denied claims it was set to be acquired by Facebook, calling assertions in a TechCrunch story “not factually accurate”.
