The K-Pad that comes in 7, 8, 9.7 and 10.1-inch sizes has the initial of the company’s executive chairman Kofi Kludgeson.

Kludgeson said: “After five years of technical development, we have come up with a product that is a major breakthrough in the world of technology. We have come out with K-Pad and in three months, the product has hit the world market in a mighty way.”

The company is not relenting on its innovation and technology. They announced they would soon be launching K-Phone which will be an Android based smartphone. They have also shown great interest in developing Ghana’s 4G Internet network.

The K-Pad will also have Android and Windows operating systems.

African developers are not waiting to receive technology tablets from developed countries. Many companies and IT leaders are coming up with their own solutions — the latest being the K-Pad.

“In the next three years, we should be able to create and empower skills development for about one million youths in Ghana. The country is growing currently at 15 percent and a lot is happening and if we do not take advantage of the knowledge and technology gap, a time will come when only foreigners will do that for us,” Kofi Kludgeson said.

The K-Pad has done pretty well in the months it was released before its launch. It has been received well with major news networks such as BBC and Reuters, seemingly interested with the development of the tablet.

The launch of K-Pad comes in the wake of news that Google will be releasing its own tablet, Google Nexus Pad. It will retail at around US$199.

Alltel Limited developed the K-Pad.
