Russian social network VKontakte has given the FBI insight into the personality of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the second suspect allegedly responsible for the bomb blasts at Monday’s Boston Marathon.
Tsarnaev is currently on the run from US agents in Boston.
According to his VKontakte page, he said he considers a career and money as the most important things in life. He also stated that Islam is his worldview.
The account also showed that in 2011 he graduated from a high school in Massachusetts, Cambridge Rindge & Latin School, and attended School No. 1 in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, from 1999 to 2001.
It also says he speaks English, Russian and Chechen, while he follows several pages devoted to Islam.
Concerning his music choice, the page says he likes “Hey Sexy Lady” by Shaggy.
According to the Guardian newspaper in Britain, the suspect was born on July 22, 1993, just preceding a fierce battle for independence in the republic of Chechnya, a region that attempted to secede from Russia following the collapse of the USSR.
“Over time, the independence movement grew increasingly Islamist in character. Largely
quashed by Moscow, a low-level insurgency persists in Chechnya and has leaked into neighbouring Dagestan,” the newspaper said.
The newspaper also spoke with a high school colleague of the suspect who described him as very relaxed.
“[He is] a very relaxed person but he had said things that made him seem anti-American. He once said Thanksgiving was haram (forbidden),” the acquaintance said.
